Pointing the Way to Hope in Christ

Cornerstone will serve as host church for both the Boys’ and Girls’ Chrysalis Flights in July. The Girls’ Flight will be Saturday, July 10 - Monday, July 12 and the Boys’ Flight will be Saturday, July 17 - Monday, July 19.

Countless Cornerstone people will help with meals, logistics, prayer vigil, cleaning and so much more! Please keep the teams, and of course, all of the young men and women attending the flights in your prayers. It promises to be a life-changing experience for everyone involved.

The church will be in full usage during the Flights. Our music department has graciously opened the Music Rooms for use and the Sanctuary, Family Life Center, Prayer Chapel and many classrooms will also be utilized. Let’s offer gracious hospitality to the Chrysalis Teams and Participants!

  Christmas in July

You’re invited to celebrate Christmas with Cornerstone on Sunday, July 18. Spend your worship time focusing on the birth of Christ and give gifts to children in our community. Once again, you will have the opportunity to buy school supplies for kids or make a monetary donation so that the Mission committee can do the shopping for you. Look for the Christmas tree in the annex and take an envelope from the tree. Enclosed you will find a list of needed supplies to buy. Bring the supplies on “Christmas morning” and place them under the tree. If you prefer to give money, put it in the envelope and place it in the offering plate. Thank you!

UMW NEWS

Festival of Sharing is an all-church mission promoted by the United Methodist Women since 1999. The Kits (see insert) will be turned in September 11 at the UMW annual meeting at Andersonville United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, OH. Reverend Bob Davis has transported the Kits to the Church World Service Festival at Otterbein College in Westerville since 1999 and will be transporting them again this year on October 9. This Festival is one of five sponsored by the United Methodist Church in the USA.

Church World Service was formed by several denominations in war-torn Europe. In their first year, they collected 11 million pounds of food and clothing. 60 years later, Church World Service is working with many denominations and their missions agencies, throughout the world, to provide help and hope. The more who work together, the more can be accomplished.

All kits are to be the same so all recipients receive the same materials. As a reminder DO NOT add money, notes or religious materials to the Kits, or substitute or add other items. We currently have 100 bars of soap. If we could do 100 health kits, the other Kits are almost complete. When you are out, pick up towels, nail clippers (not files), tooth brushes (individually packaged), and wide tooth combs. Check the dollar tree for good buys and good quality. Contact Karolyn Ketter for shopping assistance! Look for a collection box in the Welcome Center.

Thanks to all who have supported this mission through the years.

Endowment and Special Gifts

We invite you to consider Cornerstone when making your estate plans. Did you know that an estimated 70% of all people who die do not have a Will or Living Trust?  Without proper estate planning, no charity can receive gifts from your estate.  Be sure your estate planning is up to date. Do you know who your heirs will be?  Is Cornerstone a beneficiary of your estate? Or, if you already have an estate plan, have your circumstances changed since you last updated your estate plan? Do your current documents carry out your intended desires?  Is Cornerstone included in this plan?  If you have questions, please contact Cornerstone’s Endowment and Special Gifts Committee.  Harold Massie is our chairperson.
